BZora Equity Immersion Trip

The BZora Equity Immersion Trip is an exciting opportunity to develop and deepen your equity analysis in an intimate group setting, traveling to pre-selected sites that hold significant historical and cultural value. Our second annual trip is scheduled Thursday, June 14 – Monday, June 20, 2024.

We will meet and start in Atlanta and, over four nights and five days, travel together by chartered bus to Montgomery, Selma and Birmingham, Alabama. Each stop will be followed by thoughtfully curated and facilitated workshops and discussions to process what we witness. We will then return to Atlanta for our closing experience together. Expect to go back home to your communities and organizations with new insight, language and inspiration to move forward creating equitable spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Equity Immersion Travel Experience?

The CultureValue Equity Immersion Travel Experience is a four-day trip through four cities (Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham) where participants will visit some historic and historical sites and museums, participate in thoughtfully curated DEI workshops, and interact with people directly related to some key moments in our country’s history.

Who would benefit from the trip?

The trip is for anyone interested in developing or deepening an equity analysis. That could be an individual who is personally curious and interested in affecting change in their personal circles, people who work in non-profit organizations, educators, law enforcement, those in the faith community, and people who work in companies and businesses that are looking to develop DEI practices.

How do potential participants pay for the trip?

You can pay through Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, or just send a check to BZora, PO Box 620307, Oviedo, FL 32762-0307. Installment payments are accepted through PayPal. We can also accept installment payments through Zelle and by check if arrangements are made. All payments are non-refundable.

How do potential participants pay for the trip?

What does the cost cover?

The cost covers all lodging and travel once the trip begins, all activities (entry to museums and other sites, speakers, etc.) and most meals.

How will we travel to all the cities and sites?

We work with a Black-owned and operated chartered bus company. All participants will travel together on the same bus, stay in the same hotels and, usually, share meals together.

When should we plan to arrive and leave for the trip?

You should plan to be in place for the 6:00 pm opening dinner. We get back to Atlanta on the evening of the last day. If you’re flying in, you should schedule a night time flight on the last day or morning for the day after.

I have friends/family in one of the cities. Will there be time to visit?

There will be no time to visit with people who are not on the trip with us. In addition, part of the advantage of such a small group of participants is the ability for us to develop relationships that allow deep and meaningful reflection and workshopping.

What valuable skills should I be able to bring back to work?

The goal of the trip is to provide participants with an immersive experience of the history of oppression in this country to deepen a DEI analysis, develop language and tools to have hard conversations, and ideas for moving the work forward back at home.
